When I created the Kusanagi Class, I was asked more than once if I was going to do a version of it that could fit in the Original Series design language. I resisted for the longest time as I didn't really have a good idea of how to do it. A few months ago I had an epiphany and decide to try and execute the idea and this is the result. At the same time, I also updated the textures of my old Enterprise model and I carried the new setup to this one as well. All my texturing tends to be procedurally done in substance designer, so it's easy to transfer node setups between each ship. I also did a set of textures that would be my vision of what it should look like as an actual starship, instead of an old practical model that sat in storage for a few decades.
For anyone that cares for lore, I named the ship and class after Shotaro Kaneda, the protagonist of the anime Akira. It was a nod to the original design that was named after the anime and I wanted to keep the tradition going.
